Growing up with Subbuteo: My Dad Invented the World’s greatest Football Game’ is a real eye-opener and delves deep into the life of a boy whose father invented the entire sport.
From being a womaniser, getting into fights and drinking heavily when he perhaps shouldn’t, this book presents the author in his most exposed form.
It is perhaps more of a perspective on the life of Mark and Peter Adolph rather than the actual growth of the game, but the book is entertaining nonetheless.
You get a real sense of their lives from the initial creation of the game to the moment that Adolph made it to the top.
You’re really on a ride throughout the 224 pages and there is certainly scope for another novel delving deeper into the ever-growing world of subbuteo.
