An interesting new partnership has been struck between LEGO and the DFB which will see the German National Football Team produced in a minifigure series.
To tie in with the upcoming Euro 2016 championships, 15 players and coach Joachim Low will be available priced at €2.99 from May 14 2016, but sadly only in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
This is a very interesting development. I have always been surprised at the lack of sports licensing that LEGO has managed, although they have had NBA and NHL in the past.
I collected all the Lego Football kits from the late 90s, and was gutted there were no more in production.
I did hear at some point late last year that there were plans to have a Premier League licensed range of minifigs, although haven’t heard of anything since.
Either way, this is a step in the right direction.
