Retro game consoles can often fetch dramatically high prices from resellers and second-hand stores, however the Nintendo Wii continues to remain a cheap option with an incredible library.

5: Go Vacation

For those who enjoy endless minigames and an extensive open world, Go Vacation holds all the tools for endless hours of fun. 

The fictional Kawawii island is separated into four sections: Marine, City, Mountain and Snow and the player can explore every section to their hearts content. 

Each section has a huge array of minigames and activities for both single player and multiplayer gameplay. 

After completing milestones a player can unlock their own personal villa that they can customise with nearly 100 items. 

4: Epic Mickey

A unique take on the Mickey Mouse character and one that not only tests your gameplay but your morals as well. 

Mickey wields a magic paintbrush that can either erase things from existence with thinner or befriend enemies with paint. 

Different quests and alliances can be made with your choices and the differing options can bring tons of gameplay even after you have finished the game. 

A sequel was released for the Wii titled, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two which can also prove a great option for those looking for extra content following the game’s completion. 

A challenging platformer and one that provides an excellent moral throughline, could Epic Mickey be your next challenge.

3: Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games

A classic game series on the Wii console and one with incredible additions from its predecessor, the collaborative Mario & Sonic Olympic games are a great single and multiplayer experience.

Thirty different Olympic events can be played with world records and game night bragging rights on the line with each playthrough. 

The introduction of dream events also provides a separate avenue of gameplay with a far greater degree of difficulty in comparison to the original events. 

Players can also earn scratch cards through completing events which can allow the player to unlock new outfits for their characters alongside the addition of new music within all menus. 

2: Cars

Plenty of video games that are movie tie-ins crash and burn with lazy effort and a lack of thought but Cars is a major exception. 

The game holds a huge open world with tons of collectibles, races and characters to interact with, spanning three zones of the map. 

All voice actors from the film return to their roles within the game and there is no greater way to experience the world of Radiator Springs than by playing through it. 

It’s a cosy, nostalgic and casual game that can be enjoyed by new players or returning players no matter their age. 

1: Wii Sports Resort

A game that goes under the radar of many people due to the necessary inclusion of the Wii motion plus is Wii Sports Resort. 

The game includes 12 different sports on the menu, each with different subsections of gameplay that you can delve into. 

Players acquire stamps by hitting achievements within each sport and each sport has a minimum of 10 stamps available to earn. 

For solo gameplay hitting achievements or multiplayer battles, Wii Sports Resort is the perfect upgrade for those who have grown too bored of the original title.
