FIFA video games were the dominant force in the football market from the late 2000s onwards, and still have titles regarded in the greatest games of all time.

Despite the FIFA franchise being abandoned by EA Sports due to the expensive asking price for the franchise naming rights, many fans have yet to drop the name from conversations.

FIFA video games were the dominant force in the football market from the late 2000s onwards, and still have titles regarded in the greatest games of all time.

Here in this list, we delve into the titles old and older to find the definitive best FIFA games of all time.

5) FIFA 20

This maybe the most unpopular opinion on the list, however, purely because of how the game carried itself during lockdown FIFA 20 sneaks onto the list.

The introduction of promos such as Summer Heat and the adaptation of team of the season due to football being put on halt meant players still had tons of content to access even without live sport.

Additionally, icon swaps was an incredible addition for free-to-play players who could now access some of the games best cards just by playing the game.

An underappreciated game during a time where tons of players had nothing to do but sit on the game all day, FIFA 20 should be considered amongst the most complete FIFA games of all time.

4) FIFA 14

The final year of trade offers existing within the game and the beginning of a next generation of consoles, FIFA 14 had so much going in its favour.

Players could wager their friends in exchange for ultimate team items whilst also trading their way up to building their perfect team before the introduction of price ranges.

A joint World Cup mode for ultimate team also meant players had an endless year of content and a separate mode to use World Cup specific cards.

The period also represented a huge growth in the content creation scene surrounding the FIFA franchise and many who grew up with this FIFA game remember it fondly.

3) FIFA 10 World Cup

The game that set the expectation of all FIFA players incredibly high for World Cup games is the edition released by EA for the South Africa World Cup.

Every subsequent addition for the following World Cups fell short of this game which had the most available nations playable in any FIFA game in history.

You could play a qualifying campaign with San Marino before choosing to manage American Samoa instead, the possibilities was endless.

Whilst it lacked any ultimate team equivalent, it takes many players back to an era of simple gameplay and incredible customisation.

2) FIFA 17

The FIFA game that created the biggest transition in the franchises’ history and arguably created the foundations of the modern EAFC is FIFA 17.

The introduction of a new game engine and features such as FUT Champions being implemented set the game up to a new era.

Additionally, the inclusion of squad building challenges for the first time was arguably the best feature EA had introduced in the game’s history and still remains a favourite to this day.

If you wrote a list on the most important games in FIFA history, FIFA 17 would likely sit top, however, on the list of the best only one takes the number one spot.

1) FIFA 12

An all-round incredible FIFA game and one that all so called nostalgia merchants will call the best of all time.

It represents the ultimate team mode at its simple best, no overused promotions, no over the top game modes, just simple gameplay that could be enjoyed by rich and poor alike.

Memories of using Brazilian silvers and cheap beasts remind players of the current game how good they had it in the past and how those feelings cannot be replaced.

At a time where content creation was beginning to take centre stage with the likes of KSI popularising the game on Youtube, FIFA 12 both online and offline remains the best of all time.
